Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper.

This paper is a unique essay that provides a letter to the editor describing some of the
common issues that affect the nursing profession and access to health care in Canada.
Title of the editorial article: “Refugees in Canada have poorer access to health care than in
refugee camps.” Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper.
Body of the essay
The above editorial focuses on highlighting the problems that refugees and foreign people
go through while trying to access medical care in Canada. This article makes the reader become
aware of the quality of service that is given to immigrants who try to seek health care within this
country (The star, 2016). This paper shows how some people are actually denied medical
attention entirely while those that receive it have to go through a lot of difficulty. There are a lot
of surprising revelations that are made such that the issue of refugees seeking basic health care in
Canada is actually deemed as a looming crisis (The star, 2016). Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper.
This is because there are poor living conditions in the camps where essential amenities
such as toilets and clean water are not even available (Tully, 2007).

What’s more, most of the
refugees in Canada live in places where infectious diseases such as skin infections and measles
occur on a recurrent basis due to lack of adequate supply of vaccines, medication and even
equipment (The star, 2016). The irony of this predicament is that Canada is actually one of the
well developed nations that thrives within a multicultural society (Syme, 2009). Therefore, most
people in this country are known to enjoy quality lives where issues of health care are ranked
highly. As such, the fact that refugees and immigrants in Canada are denied basic health care
begets the question of whether the country is facing a serious humanitarian issue. Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper.

Surprisingly, Canada is known to donate a lot of financial resources to other countries to
assist them in handling their medical concerns so that everyone can be able to maintain a healthy
life (Tarride, 2008). Moreover, this article shows how most of the non-Canadian citizens are
denied basic medical services such as prenatal care, immunization, consultation services and
even treatment of severe or chronic diseases such as diabetes (The star, 2016). Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper. The health care providers in Canada as well as other nursing professionals such as doctors, physicians and even medical practitioners should become aware of the fact that health coverage is a very universal
practice (Taylor, 2007). This means that every individual has the right to access medical
attention regardless of their ethnic affiliation or national citizenship. Moreover, every person
including refugees and immigrants have the right to be treated with a high level of fairness and
equality just like other people in Canada (The star, 2016). Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper.
The government of the latter country should put in place stringent measures that should
not alter the standards of medical care to suit the origin of a person. Instead, the authority should
ensure that the provision and accessibility of health care is equalized such that a standards of
medical care are maintained at a high level (Lett, 2008).This strategy is bound to mitigate the
health care issues in Canada and at the same time mitigate the humanitarian crisis that is
currently facing the refugees and immigrants in this western country. Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper.
In summary, the access to health care in Canada is presently facing a serious challenge
owing to the fact that refugees are often denied basic medical attention. Moreover, some of them
constantly suffer from infectious diseases due to the poor hygiene in most camps. The most
feasible recommendation that would avert this crisis would be to emphasize on the government
to streamline health care so that every individual can access it regardless of their origin and
nationality. Issues That Affect The Nursing Profession Paper.
