Description

What is the procurement strategy you would use to obtain this component? Security System Matrix Discussion Paper.

Control Panel (System Controller)
The control panel is the “brains” of the security system. It may look like an electrical box or be inside the keypad. It receives transmissions from sensors and communicates data to the central monitoring station. The battery is located inside the control panel, which backs up the system if your power is shut down.

Keypads
Keypads are units that can be installed throughout your home to provide easy-to-use access to your panel. By typing in your personal code and the correct buttons, you can arm and disarm your security system quickly.

Door and Window Contacts
Contacts are devices inserted into windows and doorways. When the door or window is open, the “contact” is broken and a signal will be sent to the panel and then onto the monitoring station.

Motion Detectors
Motion detectors are devices inside the home which trigger an alarm when something moves into its path. Passive infrared and microwave processing provide excellent catch performance with freedom from false alarms. There are also “pet sensitive” motion detectors which can be installed in a home with pets.

Glass Break Detection
Also known as audio detectors, glass break detectors are normally installed in rooms with many fixed windows that can easily be accessed from the outside. If the window is broken, the shattering glass sound will set off the alarm. Security System Matrix Discussion Paper.

Smoke Detectors
The smoke detectors Atronic Alarms recommend tie into the security system and signal the Central Monitoring Station when tripped, and they, in turn, dispatch the fire department to your home. Atronic Alarms offers a fire only program to those who are interested in protecting their property from fire in a cost efficient way.

Heat Sensors
Fires typically cause a rapid rise in temperature in the surrounding area. Heat detectors sense the rise in temperature and signal an alarm if the increase is 15 degrees or more per minute or if the environmental temperature rises above 135 degrees. Best locations for heat sensors are areas such as attics and garages.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors
With a CO alarm that is part of your security system, your safety is monitored day and night. Your monitoring station can automatically send emergency help in the event of an unsafe condition in your home, giving you added peace of mind.

Water Detectors (or Water Bug)
The water detector is a device that is connected to the alarm panel and is placed in areas that are prone to water problems. The Waterbug triggers an alarm when a film of water forms a bridge between the two contacts on the device.

Temperature Sensors
Temperature sensors accurately measure ambient temperatures in your environment. If the temperature goes above or below the pre-set standards, the unit will contact the monitoring station. These sensors can help prevent freezing pipes in vacation homes or other buildings, and are also good in wine cellars, freezers and any other area you might need regulated.
