The location of this event was strategic such that any interested person would be allowed to take part in it. My main objective of attending the workshop was to learn as
much as I could when it came to matters of the environment and how various stakeholders were
involved in its protection. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper.
b) Details of the event and development activity
The entire conference had already been pre-programed such that each and every person
who was taking part had known the role they would play prior to the event. My role in this workshop was to remain an audience where I would absorb the information being presented and
occasionally ask questions when need arose. The workshop had been well organized such that there were six main themes that focused on various matters relating to the environment. The first
theme was globalization which dealt with the marketplace as a global entity and ways in which
people would be able to conduct their businesses abroad thanks to the opening up of fair trade. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper.
The second topic dealt on issues of the community and environment where issues such as
sustainability, demographics, technology and corporate governance were discussed at length.
The corporate stakeholders was the third theme and it focused on highlighting the important facts
when it came to social responsibility and ethics. Fourthly, societal trends as a central theme was
also discussed and it aimed at teaching the audience about consumer behavior. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper.
Ethics and the code of ethics were covered as the last two themes were people in
attendance got to learn about the core principles that should be followed by all individuals living
within a given society (Korschun et al, 2016). The role and experience of myself as well as other
people in the audience was to follow the proceedings keenly and also take part in any group
activity as instructed by the session chairs. Prior to this workshop, I had mixed thoughts and
feelings about it and did not guess that it would meet my expectations.
The major factor that made me take part in this activity was because I had a lot of
interest in matters of sustainability and the environment such that I wanted to learn more about
them. Therefore, this workshop was one of the ways where numerous issues would be covered within a very short time span. This gave me the benefit of doubt that I would indeed gather as much knowledge as I could within one platform while at the same time get to meet the people who are the major stakeholders when it comes to this sensitive topic. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper.
c) Self-analysis
The process of attending this workshop had a lot of relevance to my personal
development since I was sure that I would be able to understand various concepts that directly relate to the quality of the immediate environment. In addition, I could also be able to appreciate
and understand more when it comes to matters of business and entrepreneurship since corporate
matters were being discussed. There are numerous lessons and reactions that I have with regards
to the entire event that have played a significant and instrumental role in improving my overall
knowledge as an individual. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper.
d) Analysis of learning
The first major lesson that I learnt from this workshop is the fact that ethics plays a very
vital role when it comes to the world of business (Hsieh, 2015). The presenters were able to
explain to us that there is a code of conduct that must be followed for a firm or company to be
declared as having fulfilled its obligation to the larger public. This is exemplified in companies
such as Starbucks, Microsoft, Pepsi, Coke and even Ford that are all giant firms within the
industries that they operate (Witkowska, 2016).
Their ability to remain reputable, respected and renown lies in the fact that they
understand the immense role played by ethics in corporate governance. Further, I also learnt that
ethical culture is only achieved through commitment and trust on the side of employees.

In addition, loyalty is also an important virtue that should be exhibited by both employers and
employees. This means that ethics is the answer to all the performance, productivity and even
profitability issues that most organizations grapple with on a daily basis (Hasnah et al, 2015). Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper.
Apart from ethics, the other valuable lesson I learn relates to corporate stakeholders who
have an upper hand when it comes to the daily operation of a company. This includes both the
internal and external stakeholders that play individualized roles when it comes to the firm’s
success (Quarshie et al, 2016). I also got to learn the importance of having virtues such
transparency, fairness and independence in any work environment as they directly affect the quality of performance as well as employee motivation. These lessons were really valuable
especially when combined with the practical examples provided by the presenters as they gave a
vivid image of how things happen in the real business world.
e) Application in content
The lessons that I picked from attending this workshop link directly to the teachings that
have been covered within the classroom setting. For instance, the issue of ethical business has
been extensively taught where I have come to understand that an entrepreneurial venture can
only remain afloat if it utilizes the right set of processes to conduct its activities. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper. This was
perfectly illustrated through global giant firms such as the Ford Company, Starbucks and even
Microsoft Corporation (Arnold et al, 2015). These lessons shall be very valuable when it comes
to my personal development as well as growing my career goals and ambitions.
f) Evaluation and Self-concept reconstruct
The process of making significant changes in my life can only begin once I critically
evaluate the lessons that I learn from this workshop and then come with several ways of making
amends. The experience that I obtained from this event has made a positive impact that has
transformed the manner in which I view corporate issues as well as ethics in business. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper. I agree with the key themes of this workshop as they touched on the most fundamental issues facing the
world of business, organization performance and even sustainability. However, I also have one
constructive criticism that centers on organization of the event where the planners would have
allowed a number of people in the audience to also make their own presentations with regards to
the various topics. Despite this shortcoming, I believe the event was a huge success and I
cherish every lesson that I picked from the entire workshop. Environment and Corporate Stakeholders Paper.
g) Action
The course of action to take after gathering the numerous lessons from this event is
definitely to implement them in both my personal and professional world. The importance of
ethics, corporate governance and even sustainability shall be included in all my endeavors to
better myself in the near future.
