There are so many amazing opportunities to build your network at Ryerson – student groups and unions, support services and resources – that we could fill every class this term talking about them and and still not have time to tell you about all of them. Although you will be very busy with your academic, work and personal commitments be sure to make time to:

  • Take advantage of all the student support services and resources which are available to you.

This is the second of two Build Your Network Research Reports. Links to Co-Curricular Opportunities and Student Support Services and Resources Paper.The purpose of this assignment is to assist you to research co-curricular opportunities, student support services and resources which resonate with you as a way for you to develop the skills you require for success in your academic, co-curricular, personal or professional life and to introduce you to presenting your findings as a business research report. There are three steps to this assignment:

  1. Research 

For this assignment, you have one option for how you conduct your research: You are required to take a “field” research approach and attend anyone co-curricular (club or course union) or student support service event or workshop. Please be sure to plan early so that you are able to select and attend an event or workshop in advance of the assignment submission deadline.

You can review the co-curricular opportunities and student support services and resources using the links provided at the end of this assignment to select your event or workshop.   

  1. Write a400 – 500 word research report which provides analyses based on your “field research”. Your research report should provide the following content presented using these section titles: Links to Co-Curricular Opportunities and Student Support Services and Resources Paper.
    • Introduction – Describe the purpose of your report. (30 – 40 words)
    • Method– Describe how you did your research. (30 – 40 words)
    • Key Findings– Highlight your key research findings. (240 – 270 words)
      • Your research findings should include the following information:
        • The name of the co-curricular event or student service/resource
        • Description of the co-curricular event and/or student service/resource
        • Any associated links/urls
      • Conclusions– Provide the conclusions from your research. In this case, how will these resources and/or event/workshop will assist you to develop the skills you require for success in your academic, co-curricular, personal or professional lives. (50 – 75 words)
      • Recommendations– Provide your recommendations aligned to the purpose of your report. In this case, would you recommend the resource(s) you researched?
