Instructions

In this course, you will be creating templates each week that will celebrate your growing awareness of cultural diversity.  The template is a collection of images, videos, and reflections all centered on the weekly theme found in your unit Learning Content.  The template is divided into portions representing different aspects of the humanities including dance, music, literature, art, and others that will create a text reflecting your awareness of cultural diversity.

For the first unit, you will explore your unique contributions to cultural diversity.

Music and Dance as Culture

Go to YouTube and search for a video of a dance or musical performance that interests you from any time period or culture.  Once you select your video, click on ‘share,’ then click on ’embed,’ and finally click on ‘copy’ found at the lower right.

Next, click inside the textbox below, then click on the “Insert” menu and select “Online Video” from the menu.  Select the option where you ‘paste’ the embed code.  If necessary, reference the video on the References page.

  1. Have you experienced a defining moment in your life that may have changed your perspective or gave you a new outlook on the idea of cultural diversity? (This could include a time when you experienced ‘culture shock’ after coming into contact with a culture different from your own; it could come from finding a lost heirloom that made you more aware of your own culture; it could come from meeting someone new who had an impact on you, an experience at work or school that inspired and motivated you to experience the idea of culture in a new way.)
