LDL Concept of Biology and Writing Assignment.
The levels of LDL and the conversion of fat into LDL in the human body varies in people with different body weight. For a group of 10 overweight patients, it is observed that they have increased levels of LDL. From this observation then, a scientific research is partaken to determine the relationship between LDL and overweight patients. Biologically, increased levels of LDL occur in overweight patients because of the higher levels of fat in their bodies, the role of innate body immunity and cell transport mechanisms. LDL Concept of Biology and Writing Assignment.
To test for this relationship, a normal weight patient (control) is put under MRI to observe conversion of fat into LDL against an overweight patient to determine levels of LDL after a specific time similar to both individuals. It is expected that the result of the experiment indicate higher levels of fat conversion to LDL in the overweight patient than the normal weight patient. This result logically supports the biological theory behind formation of LDL in overweight individuals (Nuzzo, 2014).

b) The outcome achieved by the farmer in choosing the best egg-laying chicken to reproduce is a typical example of artificial selection. In artificial selection, a desired group of organisms with certain traits are selected and isolated for reproduction and passing on of the identified traits. This selective breeding of domesticated animals, chicken in this case for economic significance is the first indicator that artificial selection is in use. LDL Concept of Biology and Writing Assignment. As per narrated in the example, the farmer selected the reproductive chicken and not those that were not laying eggs to reproduce. This could not be natural selection because there is no force of nature acting to eliminate the weaker species (Hartl, Clark & Clark, 2017).
By isolating the best-egg laying chicken, artificial attention towards breeding these chicken to reproduction further justifies the artificial selection concept. As opposed to evolution, there are no biological differences noted in the off springs of the chicks. Therefore, the farmer’s practice perfectly fits the artificial selection phenomenal.

Part 2: Introduction to professional writing
a) Poor writing in business can cause a company in several ways. One, lack of lingual expression in writing creates mistrust where customers or a market because of the impression that a company is not as professional as it should be. Second, poor business writing affects delivery of services to the market essentially because of possible miscommunication. This includes misuse of some terminologies and consequent misunderstanding across those working to deliver. A third impact is strenuous interpretation where the language used in writing is not clear.

Essentially, a company’s image may be tainted due to lack of professionalism in business writing.
The similarities between business and academic writing spring from the technicalities of both writing genres. Just like in academic writing, there has to be an objective in business writing that must be achieved. Both forms of writing need language that is accurate and focused on the objective and seek to win the reader. For this reason, the right vocabulary must be put to use for both academic and business writing. These overlapping characteristics make writing meaningful and goal-oriented (Vásquez, 2013).LDL Concept of Biology and Writing Assignment.
Business writing differs from academic writing based on the structure of the pieces from either. Business writing is usually quite formal and each form takes a given structure. Emails have a different layout from that of memos which also different from business presentations.

On the contrary, academically written piece have a somewhat similar format such as the introduction, thesis, argument and conclusion at the end. The target audience for business writing demand language and style that is appealing and convincing. For academic writing, the main purpose is to educate and deliver knowledge and this does not have to be compelling. The audience for both draw a bold line of difference (Vásquez, 2013).

b) In the poorly written set of instructions, there is lack of clarity in use and execution of the instructions. According to Wikihow, instruction must be clear to the letter and each symbol used be of a universal meaning. For instance in the first colored box where a user is to select “Always show the Discussion List Pane”, the box remains blue assuming that it has been ticked. Ideally, selecting this option should have the box getting a tick in it to show it is the active setting. However, when it remains blank and just blue, it makes the instruction ambiguous to the user. Another problem relates to the use of graphics to make instructions look more sequential and easy to follow (Skinner & Evans, 2016).LDL Concept of Biology and Writing Assignment.

The student Introduction settings in the first box are filed with words with minimal graphics. However, when a drop-down is used, the set of instruction becomes more appealing, the sequence is more evident just to reassure the user that they are still on track. Besides this, the use of features supersedes order and sequence (Skinner & Evans, 2016). The poorly written instructions have no key words since there are no highlights. The sub-titles are not bold enough to create direction. In this case, the poorly written instructions lack a visual appeal that is vital in the compilation of instructions.
