Personal Response to any Major Event in “Hamlet” Essay.
The establishment of a close connection between an author’s viewpoint and their central
theme is one of the successful ways of determining whether a message has hit home. Novels,
plays and scripts endeavor to communicate to their readers in various ways. One of the ways to
ascertain whether a writer has been able to relate with their audience is through the preparation
of an individualized report that outlines the themes and lessons captured. This paper is a brief
essay that provides a personal response to a major event contained in the play “Hamlet”. Personal Response to any Major Event in “Hamlet” Essay.
The section of the play that I was able to relate to is where Hamlet is having a dialogue
with himself about how he is tormented by the death of his father Claudius. We get to learn that
it is because her mother has already married a second husband and this has created a strain on
their relationship. At one point, Hamlet states that “…the remarriage has made the whole world
to seem corrupted” (Bosak, 24). This part of the play relates closely to me because it highlights a
number of family values and at the same time focuses on showing some of the common issues in
most households. I can relate with the plight of Hamlet since I have witnessed a remarriage
within the family circle. Personal Response to any Major Event in “Hamlet” Essay.
One of my aunts decided to marry another man immediately after the death of her
husband and this did not auger well with the rest of the relatives. What’s more, her children who
are actually my closest cousins happened to be caught in between the tussle of relating with their mother and accepting to be raised by an entirely different man who now poses as their step-father
(Froumentin, 12). In the case of Hamlet, he believes that the world has become corrupted
because he thought that they would remain together with his mother and fight the world as a
team. However, all this is shuttered once a new man becomes part of their family. This situation
is not only common as illustrated in the play, but is also happens in real life.

The majority of people are caught in between the tangle of new marriages and coping
with a new parent. Additionally, this segment also relates with me since it manages to link
Hamlet’s predicament to the topic of suicide. After the death of his father, this character begins
to think about the afterlife until he gets to a point where he begins to think about suicide (Gunn,
34). At about this point, he also gets to learn about the true cause of Claudius’ death who
happens to be his father and he immediately begins to plot revenge against the perpetrators.
This part of the play makes me connect with it because suicide is one of the common problems in
the current society (Nichols, 43). Personal Response to any Major Event in “Hamlet” Essay.
The majority of people are beginning to think of it as the easiest way out when faced with
a tough predicament. Likewise, people have also become vengeful such that they always want to
inflict pain on those that have caused them grievous harm in the past. This is something that
every person has been guilty of even myself as it is part of everyday life. This means that the
play titled “Hamlet” is priceless when it comes to the creation of a personal connection between
the reader and the themes presented within its contents.
In summary, revenge and remarriage are two of the common issues that affect virtually
all society members on a day-to-day basis. The play “Hamlet” discusses them at length and also
details how it affects a number of characters. The fact that this section relates closely with my
person life means that it is a literary piece that is worth reading. Personal Response to any Major Event in “Hamlet” Essay.
