Political and cultural crisis facing America Case Study Paper.
Political and cultural crisis facing America in the first decades of the 21st country
The 21 st century has witnessed unprecedented challenges both politically and culturally as well as economically throughout the world. More so, political and cultural challenges in the
United States have taken a new dimension altogether and so many citizens believe that the nation
is on a downward spiral. Perhaps, America is facing crisis as a result of its own doing during the
early years.Political and cultural crisis facing America Case Study Paper. Effects of the past eras could be catching up with the nation in the 21 st century, and it
becomes even harder to move forward without shifting United States’ global position.
1950 The cold war and America: immediately following the Second World War, the Cold
War started between the two main protagonists including the Soviet Union and the United States.

In fact, many people associate this period with the rise to dominance of the United States. It is
evident that American ideologies about democracy, peace and security started propagating
during this period (Khalidi, p 47-49). The present global order is a reflection of American
principles, and it was created plus preserved through American dominance in all its political and
cultural dimensions. Expectedly, the relationship between the two nations remained to say the
least. In the 21 st century, the challenges have not subsided either. Modern political policies and
its influence on global landscape continue to be challenged (or at least shaped) by events that
occurred during the period. Political and cultural crisis facing America Case Study Paper. The United States remains virtually as hostile to modern-day
Moscow as it was to 19 th century Soviet Union. Nevertheless, with the 21 st Russia not about to lie
down is spreading its political ideologies and preferences throughout the world, the United States faces a crisis as far as maintaining the political world order it established following the Cold
War. This phenomenon has been dubbed as the rise of the others and countries which fall under
this phrase include Russia, China and India (Grogin, 2001). One cannot deny and or
underestimate such growing powers as well as the influence (politically, economically and
culturally) they continue garnering. In fact, the issue of foreign policy is becoming a contentious
issue because of the minimizing political influence of the United States over vying powers. This
has been evidenced by recent political trends all over the planet and the United States has had a
lesser or non-existent role in influencing the matters. For instance, the well-published Russia’s
annexation of Ukrainian portion of Crimea is a reflection of the nature of America’s political
position when Russia is involved (Gardiner, 2014). Worth noting is that United State’s foreign
policy and world order ideology is rooted on peace, protection of sovereignty of nations as well
as maintaining cordial relationships between countries. Political and cultural crisis facing America Case Study Paper. However, Moscow’s latest move could
be viewed as a way of defying United State’s political ideology regarding peace, respect and
order. It can be said that the United States is no longer in a position to wield its political
dominance over those who defy its long-established world order system. It can be said that such
problems stem from the Cold War period and some countries are still trying to create a new form
of world order. All in all, United States’ global political responsibilities are encountering varied
challenges as other nations vie for superiority in global matters. Modern world has experienced
many problems and some feel that they result from long-standing America world order.
Altogether, a new world order may be in line to replace America’s ideologies. Since the Cold
War, Moscow has remained wary of American attempts to dominate the global political
landscape making it even worrying. Political and cultural crisis facing America Case Study Paper. 1979: Revolutions around the World: Perhaps, this period best explains the political and
cultural challenges faced by the United States at the turn of this century. Marked by turmoil
throughout the Middle East and North Africa, a picture of American led revolution in Iran is
evoked. These revolutions have political and cultural tones against United States’ world order
and ideologies. True, the indisputable sea changes in these regions may eradicate tyranny in
these areas but people should not forget how 1979’s Revolutions around the World –in particular
Iran’s Islamic revolution- panned out. In the 21 st century, the by-products associated with this era
include insurgency and radicalism. Without a doubt these are some of the biggest challenges
facing America. Recent turmoil can never be justified to represent a struggle for democracy –the
very fabric of American world order. Indeed, such moves could be described to do the
democratic course untold harm and the supposed American-led endorsement of democratization
could turn out a recipe for instability. The United States itself cannot guarantee that the much
hyped democracy will prevail in Egypt or any other country that witnessed uprising. Anti-
American sentiments and a denunciation of United States’ ideologies (culture and political stand)
were prevalent throughout these uprisings (Owen, p 75-77). In conclusion, the period marked the
start of challenges which would accompany the United States through the way. Modern America
faces countless challenges and the situation does look promising in the seeable future.
