To compare the British and French political systems, it is important to reflect on the
Glorious Revolution in Britain and the reign of Louis XIV in France as an absolute monarch.
This reveals that, although the two nations had a parliament and monarchy, they were different.
Britain uses an electoral majoritarian leadership style. In this system, there is a close
relationship between the exercise of the office of the prime minister and the leadership of the
majoritarian political party. Elections campaigns in Britain are centered on the personalities of
rival party leaders and policies advanced by their respective political parties. In addition, there is
a close relationship between government formation and the electoral success. Strengthened by the majoritarian influence, elections tend to result in single party majorities. Britain, unlike France is not constrained by a tight written constitution that outlines the powers and roles of the administration structure (Cole, Para 3). France political system, on the other hand, is based on semi presidential system that

However, there is also the office of the prime minister, which appears to be a twin head of the
executive. The presidential supremacy in France stems from political authority gained through direct election. 2. Compare the French and Russian political systems.
The modern Russian and French states both have a semi presidential political system,
meaning that in the two countries, executive powers are divided between an appointed prime
minister and an elected president. In spite of this broad similarity, France and Russian semi – presidential establishments are organized in a significantly different manner. Unlike the French
legislature, the Russian National Assembly is more independent and it is capable of influencing independent laws and policies (Harvey, Para 2). Practically, the democratic credentials of modern France are unquestionable. The freedoms and
